Five Ingredient Honey Lemon Hummus Recipe

Whipping up a batch of basic hummus is easy peasy. Whipping up a batch of Honey Lemon Hummus is just as easy. This recipe uses only five ingredients and the result is sweet with just a hint of tart from the freshly-squeezed lemon.

Jumping on board with the top down recipes that I can’t get enough of, I created a quick YouTube video showing the steps and just how easy it is to make.

Five Ingredient Honey Lemon Hummus Recipe

Recipe type: Appetizer
Cuisine: Hummus
Serves: 3-4 Servings

1 can garbanzo beans. I love using organic, but if you can't find them go ahead and use traditional style. Reserve the liquid in a bowl. ½ cup honey tahini. I used Sesame King Honey Tahini for that extra touch of flavor, but if you cannot find it, classic tahini will work as well. ¼ cup olive oil. I used EVOO. ½ lemon. pluck out all of those seeds or you'll be digging them out of the mix. Honey to drizzle over top
Ingredients
  • 1 can garbanzo beans.
  • ½ cup honey tahini.
  • ¼ cup olive oil. I used EVOO.
  • ½ lemon. Pluck out all of those seeds or you'll be digging them out of the mix.
  • Honey to drizzle over top
Instructions
  1. Drain Garbanzo Beans and reserve liquid for later
  2. Add Honey Tahini and EVOO.
  3. Use an immersion blender to create a paste. Add reserved liquid a tablespoon at a time until consistency is thick and creamy.
  4. Add lemon juice and blend well.
  5. Add to bowl and drizzle with honey.
  6. Enjoy!

Directions

After you’ve opened the can of garbanzo beans, strain them and reserve liquid for later. Add to a tall mixing bowl, adding honey tahini, olive oil, and squeezed lemon juice. Using an immersion blender, begin blending all ingredients. You’ll notice that the hummus looks pretty dry and almost gritty- no worries. That’s what the reserved bean liquid is for. Add a little at a time until you have a thick, creamy consistency.

Move hummus to a bowl, drizzle with honey, and dig in.  If you can keep it around for more than a few minutes, place leftovers in the refrigerator in a container with a lid to keep it from drying out.

Of course, you can feel free to tweak this recipe by adding garlic, paprika or red pepper for a spicy kick, or even omitting the honey drizzle if it’s not your bag.
