Oinking Acres Animal Sanctuary and its love of all things four-legged is one of my favorite spots in Hendricks County. A haven for rescued farm animals in Brownsburg, Indiana, this nonprofit organization is dedicated to providing a safe and loving environment for these often overlooked creatures.

I love the fact that we can tour the farm, meet the friendly residents, and learn about the importance of farm animal rescue. While Oinking Acres focuses on finding loving homes for adoptable animals, they also provide sanctuary for those who cannot be rehomed, ensuring a lifetime of care and comfort.

2. Test your Axe Throwing Skills

Calling all adrenaline seekers! If you’re looking for a fun space to hang with friends and test drive axe throwing, look no further than LumberjAXE. Located inside The Shops at Perry Crossing in Plainfield, this unique venue provides a safe and fun environment for axe-throwing. Experienced staff will guide you through the basics, ensuring you unleash your inner lumberjack (or lumberjill) with confidence.

Besides the thrill of axe-throwing, LumberjAXE also offers a welcoming space to unwind. Enjoy delicious food and drinks from their menu, challenge your group to a game of pool or darts, or simply relax and watch the game on their TVs. I visited with my husband, and it was a hoot to test drive the different game boards.
