Easy Oatmeal Apple Tart

oatmeal apple tart recipe

If you’re like I am, you can’t resist buying apples in large quantities during autumn. I always find it a blast to create recipes using my family’s favorite ingredients (in this case it’s oatmeal for Mr. Locke) in our Oven Lovin’ series and I also like to make them fast and easy. This time around it’s Oatmeal Apple Tart filled with ripe apple slices and steel cut oatmeal for texture. Don’t have steel cut? Go ahead and use regular.

Ingredients for Oatmeal Apple Tart

Preheat oven to 350 Degrees

For the Filling

  • 4-5 large apples of your choice
  • 3 T. brown sugar
  • 1 T. flour
  • 1 T. cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup steel cut oats

Additions

1 9-inch pie crust, either store bough tor homemade
1 t. milk for brushing on crust
1 t. cinnamon sugar for crust

Directions for Making Apple Tart

Arrange apples in pie shell making sure there’s at least a one inch margin left to fold over. Remember: lie flat on a cookie sheet not in a pan!

Let sit on cookie sheet for about 10 minutes to avoid risk of tearing. You may need to slide a spatula under the crust’s bottom before you lift.
