Punderson Manor Lodge is one of those places that, once you’ve been, you never forget. The look, the feel, the ambiance all give a back to nature with a quirky-historical vibe. So, what should you know when making plans to visit? Here’s my Punderson Manor Lodge review from rooms to dining and even a spooky happening!

Punderson Manor sits in a beautiful area of Punderson State Park, a Great Ohio Lodge. An English Tudor style property, I knew I was in for something special when the first face to greet me was a gargoyle!

With two distinct types of guest rooms, if you have the option and don’t mind a hike up a spiral staircase with your luggage, the Manor Rooms are each unique in style and name.

In the side wing of the property are traditional lodge guest rooms (more about those later below).

Punderson Manor Activities

For the Manor itself, the look and feel is much more historical than the other lodges, so the activities are fewer. Having written that, there’s still plenty to do. There are both indoor and outdoor pools (outdoor is seasonal) that are super fun. We hit the indoor pool on a rainy day and had a ball.

Out back, along the water’s edge is a beautiful boardwalk-style path that butts up against the property edge. Even though it was rainy when we visited, taking a leisurely stroll on it was beautiful.

In the historical part of the Manor is a pretty library. Honestly, the view through its colored glass makes it one of my favorite spots on property.

On pretty days, heading to the back patio and fire pit area would be perfect to end the day.

In the park itself is plenty to do. There’s a highly-rated disc golf course (one of my husband’s favorites!), a beach area, fishing, hiking, walking, and birding.

Punderson Manor Dining

Right now, there is one option for dining, and that’s the Cherry Dining Room. Open for all three main meals, it was lovely to sit near the windows and enjoy the view of the lake. Here’s a link to the Punderson Manor menus, but keep in mind they are abbreviated right now.

Vegetarian pasta

The menus are very creative and portions are large, so be prepared to take home leftovers. My daughter is not a vegetarian but enjoys the dishes when available and highly recommends the pesto pasta.

As for me, you can’t go wrong with a fresh greens salad with chicken or the artichoke dip and pita.

For breakfast, if you like sweet, go with the fresh blueberry pancakes with local maple syrup.

Punderson Manor Accommodations

I know I touched a little bit on them above, but I did want to share the details of our room. We had a two queen room on the main level, so carrying luggage to our room wasn’t an issue. For all the details, check out the video above.

Our room overlooked a portion of the indoor pool and lake and I really enjoyed it as the trees were in full bloom.

We had a mini fridge, large flatscreen television, and coffee maker which were well used. Also of note, there’s a large closet area at the entrance which came in super handy for luggage.

The bathroom was small but very clean. The pedestal sink was a nice touch and we used both the tub and shower. Ahhhhh…

What I really enjoy about Great Ohio Lodges is the extra sink area outside of the bathroom. It makes it super easy to brush teeth, get ready, or wash when there are multiple people getting ready for the day.

Mohican State Park Lodge is always on our list of Great Ohio Lodges! Here’s our full review.

Is PUNDERSON Manor Haunted?

 punderson manor review

I have to mention a fun little blip that happened to us during our stay. First, let me preface by saying that the manor itself gave me no creepy vibes. Having written that, something cool did happen while we were in our room.

With the television on, Molly and I were watching a comedy movie and chatting about our day. Without warning, and no way to touch the remote, the television turned completely off. We were unable to turn it back on for a minute or so and then, bang, on it went. We both looked at each other, looked at the tv, and laughed.

Is PUNDERSON Manor Good for Young Kids?

In my humble opinion, I’d have to say it’s a fine option for older children. Other Great Ohio Lodges have arcades and dedicated areas for smaller kiddos that would offer more activities.

But, during warmer weather, head to the beach area, swim, watch movies, or read in the library. Near the cabins is a decently- sized playground that lets kids blow off steam, too.

In a Nutshell

punderson manor review

I LOVE historical properties, so PUNDERSON was ideal for my teen daughter and me. It’s a perfect place for a quiet respite, has delicious dining, and is lovely and calming. If you’re looking for a place to getaway and just simply be, this is it.

That’s it for our full Punderson Manor Review! If you’ve been, please leave me a comment on what you enjoyed best.
