Hotel LeVeque Columbus Review: A Practically Perfect Visit

Hotel LeVeque Columbus has been on my radar for years. Not only does it have an eye catching exterior (and I’m not the only one that feels that way – Amelia Earhart was a huge fan!) but it’s online reviews are near perfect. So, why should you book a room when you visit Columbus? From parking to pool, here’s the scoop and a full, honest Hotel LeVeque Columbus review.

Disclosure: I was graciously hosted by the folks at Hotel LeVeque Columbus to give you the full review on its property, especially for couples. All opinions are authentically my own!

Given the opportunity to stay in an Art Deco hotel with a celestial theme, there’s no way I’m passing it up. So, Mr. Locke and I headed to Columbus, Ohio, for a night to see exactly what Hotel LeVeque Columbus has to offer its guests and why it has so many rave reviews. We did get a true feel for the property, even though we were there less than 24 hours. But in that time I explored the property at length, checked out its bar/restaurant, and even chatted with concierge about the property’s history. Here’s what you can expect when you visit.

Just a quick overview so you can understand why its theming is the way it is. LeVeque Tower (the building in which Hotel LeVeque Columbus is in) is grand in its appearance and decor. Completed in 1927, its sleek, linear design was right in fashion with the American and European trend of Art Deco. And, if you really want to narrow it down, it’s officially classified as Streamline Art Moderne.

Hotel LeVeque Columbus was dubbed the Beacon of Hospitality for a couple of reasons. First, Amelia Airhart feel in love with the property and served as her “aerial lighthouse”. These days, the hospitality continues still.

LeVeque has 47 stories, making it the second highest building in Columbus, Ohio. The Hotel LeVeque Columbus occupies floors 1-10, offices the middle part of the building, and private residences the upper 19 levels.

Hotel LeVeque Columbus: A Celestial Theme

A fun, mini telescope in our King Classic room.

I’m so on board with the celestial theme of Hotel LeVeque Columbus. From the second we walked through its revolving brass doors, it was like stepping back in time (as long as I didn’t look to the left to see Starbucks).

It’s part of the Marriott Autograph Collection, making it a one-of-a-kind in theme and style. The lobby is absolutely lovely with brass railings and constellations prominently displayed throughout. On quiet days, like the one we encountered, we heard 100-year old song selections. Well played, LeVeque.

If you’re a Marriott Bonvoy member, make sure to link your member number to accrue points.

Our check-in was seamless, making our stay kick off on the right foot, so to speak. If you’d like to hear more details about the property, make sure to ask concierge for the story. They’re also available to recommend restaurants and local hot spots.

Hotel LeVeque Columbus Guest Rooms

The super comfy king bed in our King Classic room.

Hotel LeVeque Columbus has several room options. There’s everything from a standard two bed configuration to suites. During our stay, we had a Classic King. On average, each Classic King room is 350-400 square feet, so there was plenty of room for the two of us.

Keeping with the theme, our room was decked out with a brass shelving unit, complete with small telescope to gaze at the stars if we chose. Instead, we offered for nightly turndown service to set up an electronic star show on our ceiling before bed. It really was a fun touch and tie in.

Vanity/sink area in bathroom.

Normally I really don’t mention a bathroom unless it’s something special, but ours is definitely worth it. Again with glass and brass touches, the stand-up shower was heavenly with its rainfall-style shower head. In between the separate toilet are was the vanity/sink area with plenty of room for our toiletries. And this I have to mention: we stayed in the heart of winter on the ninth floor. The water was hot in a flash, so no issues waiting for it to warm up. Yay!

If there was an issue with our room it was the heating. When we arrived, the temperature was set to 72, a perfectly-acceptable number. For me, I like my room cooler, especially when I sleep, so I turned it down when we arrived. The temperature stayed warm for my liking to the point I just ended up turning the unit off completely and licked off the blankets. Not a deal breaker, though.

Hotel LeVeque Columbus: Pet Policy

Hotel LeVeque does allow pets, so that’s also a bonus to stay. If you do plan on bring your furry baby, keep in mind there’s an additional fee of $100 per stay and you’re allowed up to two dogs or cats. Also to note: there’s no dedicated on-property place for pets to use the bathroom, so you’ll need to take a walk around outdoors. There is an area with grass that’s nearby, so ask the front desk for directions.

Turn down service (and a fun star show on the ceiling) is included with every stay.

Hotel LeVeque Columbus Pool

This gets searched online a lot, so I’ll address it: there isn’t one. What there is, is a fitness center on the sixth floor. You’ll need your room key to access both the floor via elevator and the center itself. Inside are common exercise pieces, medicine balls, and weights. For guest convenience, there are also wired earbuds and snack bars, too.

Hotel LeVeque Columbus Parking

You have a couple of options. Hotel LeVeque offers valet parking for a flat rate per night (at the time we visited it was $30 and included unlimited in and out privileges). If you’d like to walk, there’s a parking garage (LeVeque Tower Garage) that charges by the hour or a flat fee of $20.

Personally, for the extra $10 I enjoyed the fact that could text my valet number and receive real time updates when the car was ready for use.

Hotel LeVeque Columbus Dining

Hotel LeVeque Columbus review: The Keep restaurant interior
The Keep Restaurant located on the Mezzanine Level.

There are three options for dining at LeVeque: Starbucks, The Keep Bar, and The Keep Restaurant. Starbucks sells itself, so no explanation need there. The Keep Bar has a French Brasserie meets speakeasy theme and offers crafted cocktails (although Mr. Locke’s Old Fashioned was missing the cherry) and the prices are true to big city amounts.

The Keep Restaurant is very pretty and offers a creative dining menu that changes throughout the day. It’s an upscale restaurant so the prices reflect. We didn’t dine during our visit, but the interior really is beautiful.

Hotel LeVeque Columbus: What Else?

Lastly for our Hotel LeVeque Columbus review, I have to mention the staff at LeVeque. They truly were more than accommodating and really made our stay a lovely one.
