Waterfront cities, whether inside the US, the UK, or anywhere else in the world, are often the most fulfilling for most people. With a combination of calm, culture, and caution to the wind, there’s usually something for everyone, including a cooler climate next to the lapping tides.

Is there anything more calming than the sounds of waves, with the distant sound of a buoy bell, and seagulls passing overhead? This is a feast for the ears that provides instant calm for most people. Alongside the coastal views of the sea, sand, and lighthouses, your next vacation can be a postcard memory. You can check out the best places to stay in Corpus Christi and similar towns if you plan on touring a Gulf state like Texas, which has over 3,300 miles of shoreline.

A Cooler Climate

Why Waterfront Cities Make the Best Mini-Vacations

Most people’s idea of a vacation falls squarely into fun in the sun. However, not everyone enjoys being baked and playing a game of “hot dogs or legs” on social media! If you are the type that bursts into flames like a vampire when out in the sun, a coastal vacation can be just what you need. Beach towns do get some sun, but being close to water also means the temperature is typically cooler than other parts of the country on the same day, and much more comfortable.

Waterfront Cities Have Fun Things To Do

While there is no official number relating to waterfront towns, there are 195 official “coastal cities” in the United States. These include popular tourist spots like Newport, San Diego, and Carmel-by-the-Sea. All of these have fun things to do while enjoying the outdoors, usually based on the features of the city, such as the adjacent sea or ocean. Most people enjoy simply walking or cycling next to the seaside, but there are also usually activities such as boating.

A Little Bit of Culture

Everywhere has something unique, and even between cities, the culture can vary wildly. This is especially true of older cities such as those in Europe, Asia, and certain parts of America and the US. But coastal towns usually have their own customs and traditions, which are often big money makers from tourists who enjoy cultural immersion. From unique landmarks to local characters, you don’t really get a slice of a place like you do when visiting a city by the sea.

Different Dining Experiences

Most people look forward to the food when traveling, and you can expect a treat when visiting a seaside town. Being close to the sea or ocean means the local restaurants are usually well stocked with bounties from the briny deep. Take Blackpool in the UK, for example, a haven for the UK national dish of fish and chips. And what about the US? Is there any finer chowder than what you can find in the coastal towns of New England? And the lobster? Forget about it!

Things to Know before You Travel to Miami - Miami Beach

The change of pace and calming atmosphere is one of the things that make waterfront cities some of the best vacation spots. There are also usually many fun things to do at the seaside. But most people also enjoy the amazing food that can be found across ocean-side towns.
