Buhl Mansion and Tara – A Country Inn: Valentine’s Day Romance

Buhl Mansion and Guesthouse

When it comes to romantic destinations outside of Pittsburgh proper, there’s two locations that have always been on my radar: Buhl Mansion Guesthouse & Spa and Tara- A Country Inn. Each property gives the ultimate romantic vibe and, whether it’s a Valentine’s Day weekend getaway or simply a place to relax and unwind, each property provides for your every need. Each is also a member of Select Registry (have you checked out its properties? So amazing!) and it’s very easy to see why- each offers the elegance of yesterday and…

Need a Reason to Head to First Night Pittsburgh? Here’s 5 Awesome Ones!

This year will be my family’s first time to First Night Pittsburgh. Historical Holidays at Omni Bedford Springs Resort

Omni Bedford Springs REsort

I love old Christmas movies. You know the ones, they have that essence of a simpler time when the holiday season was all about family and food, singing Christmas carols around a fire, and, of course, decorating. They always showed live Christmas trees adorned with silver and gold, red and green. Not only were the halls decked, but the men and women were as well, dressed in their fancy clothing, ready for a family get together. When my family and I walked into the lobby of Omni Bedford Springs Resort…

Christmas Trees at Carnegie Museum of Natural History: A Salute to Scotland and a Hometown Hero

Each holiday season, Carnegie Museum of Natural History decks its Architecture Hall with a Neopolitan Presepio and Christmas trees. While the presepio stays the same each year, the Christmas trees get a makeover and new theme. For 2015, the museum has chosen Scotland as the theme for its five gigantic trees- signifying the Scottish heritage that fills the city. The theme was chosen by the Women’s Committee of the Carnegie Museum of Art and each of the three trees represents a beautiful, fun, or tribute to the culture. Andrew Carnegie,…

Sky Zone Monroeville: This Place Is Jumpin’, Man!

Sky Zone

It’s easy to feel like a kid again when you get on a trampoline. Heck, it’s easy for me most days to do something that makes me feel like a kid again, but a trip to Monroeville this week made me realize how much I missed jumping on a trampoline. This Friday, December 18th at 4pm is the grand opening of Sky Zone Monroeville, an indoor trampoline park. Don’t confuse this with your old gym class where everyone would eventually get a turn for two minutes on the trampoline with all…
