Wilstem Wildlife Park Cabins cater to all group sizes and vacation styles. Cozy studio cabins, like Cabin #33 (the one we stayed at), offer an intimate retreat for couples, while larger cabins with up to seven bedrooms can comfortably accommodate families or groups of friends.
Filled with Larry Bird touches (he’s a native of the French Lick area), our accommodations were ideal for me and my husband. Our king bed was super comfortable and I love the idea of having a full kitchen if we wanted to cook our meals right there. While we didn’t do that, it was nice to have the option.
Some cabins feature a classic log cabin aesthetic, while others boast modern amenities for a comfortable stay. No matter your preference, you’ll find a cabin at Wilstem that feels like a rustic home away from home. Something to note: if you need wifi, you may have trouble accessing it via the cabins. In a pinch, you can go down to the main building area, aka Basecamp, as it’s stronger there.
Adventure at Your Literal Doorstep
Staying at Wilstem Wildlife Cabins puts you right in the heart of the action. It’s fun to wake up to the sounds of nature and embark on a day filled with adventure without having to leave the park area. Wilstem Wildlife Park offers a variety of exciting experiences, from up-close animal encounters with fascinating creatures to zipline tours that soar through the trees. Explore the park on horseback, hop in the car and take a drive-thru safari, or simply relax by the campfire at your own cabin and roast marshmallows.
Another tidbit of advice: our cabin did not have cable or Wi-Fi, but it did provide a DVD player. If we had wanted, we could have gone to Basecamp and checked out a couple to watch for free. Honestly, I was happy with the peace and quiet for one night. Again, it was quiet and cozy, so having no tech for a night was up my proverbial street.

After a day of exploring, unwind in the comfort of your cabin. Many cabins feature inviting decks or patios, perfect for enjoying the fresh air and the tranquility of the natural surroundings. Gather around the fireplace for a game night, or simply relax and soak in the stunning views.

More Than Just Cabins
Wilstem offers additional amenities to enhance your stay. The park features a swimming pool, perfect for a refreshing dip on a hot summer day. You can also take advantage of the on-site laundry facilities and fire pits located near many cabins. For those who crave a taste of civilization, Wilstem’s restaurant offers delicious meals, while a gift shop allows you to take home a memento of your stay, including branded tees and plushies.
During our stay, I had a perfect afternoon by spending time in both the otter and sloth encounters. Sloths are my ride-or-die animals, so simply being in the presence of calm Luna and Willow made my decade. Keep in mind that each encounter is an additional charge.
The river otters, on the other side of the coin, were feisty and always busy! I was able to feed them and see their habits. They’re as adorable in person as they are on the YouTube videos I watch!
