How to Stay in an Iceland Glass House

In a nutshell, Off the Map Travel has just introduced a brand new tour of Iceland’s Southern Highlands. Located only 90 minutes away from Reykjavik, the tour is privately-guided – the first ever of its kind in the area.

Available year-round, the luxury tour includes two nights in one of four eco-friendly glass-fronted lodges, allowing for stunning views of the Northern Lights or the midnight sun, plus a tour of Southern Iceland via private jeep with a private guide.

With its glass luxury accommodations, the Panorama Glass Lodge Escape offers a distinctive full-time “outdoor” experience, bringing the outdoor views indoors with panoramic views of the arctic tundra, the Hekla volcano, and crystal-clear rivers.

Iceland Glass House – Norse Mythology Lodge Names

Each lodge is named after Norse mythology characters and sleeps two guests with a custom-made, king-sized bed and includes a fully equipped kitchen with basic provisions, an en suite bathroom with a rain head shower, and sustainable toiletries from Iceland’s SÓLEY organics.

Lodges are heated with sustainable electricity, always maintaining a cozy interior no matter what the weather. Guests also have access to a private sauna and hot tub where they can relax and unwind, surrounded by nature. The nearby spring supplies the lodges with fresh water.

How to Get There

Leaving from Reykjavik’s Keflavik Airport, a luxury jeep transports participants on a guided visit to the famous Golden Circle visiting Thingvellir National Park, The Geysir Geothermal Area and Gullfoss Waterfall. Over the course of the four-day experience, guests will also visit ice caves on the South Coast, have a snowmobile adventure at a glacier, take a dip in the Blue Lagoon, and explore Iceland’s capital city Reykjavik.

“These lodges are the epitome of escapism. The area is remote, meaning there is no light pollution so it is the perfect spot for star gazing and appreciating the incredible midnight sun in summer and northern lights in winter,” noted Jonny Cooper, founder of Off the Map Travel. “This is the first time the lodges have been included in a travel experience that brings together everything the guest needs from transfers to locally guided activities.”

Iceland Glass House Itinerary Detail

Day 1: Arrive into Iceland. You will be picked up from the airport by your guide in your own private jeep for your first experience, a tour of the famous Golden Circle. There you will witness Gullfoss, Iceland’s famous two-tier waterfall, and Strokkur, Iceland’s most active geyser. You’ll then be taken to your glass lodge accommodation before your evening pick-up for dinner.

Day 2: After breakfast in your glass lodge, mixing coffee with stunning outdoor views, your guide will take you to discover the South Coast. To add a bit of adventure to the trip, you will also explore an ice cave. In the late afternoon you will return to your accommodation to relax before being transported to dinner.

Day 3: After a morning check-out, your next guided adventure visits the Þórsmörk mountain ridge where you can experience snowmobiling on the Eyjafjallajökull glacier. The day concludes with an evening exploration of Reykjavik and dinner at one of its restaurants and bars.

Day 4: For your last day, you can enjoy more time in Reykjavik before departing for the airport via the Blue Lagoon for a relaxing dip.
