In a flash it seems our kiddos go from wee ones to tweens to teens and then to young adults. And with these changes comes the need to tweak our traveling. As a gal that has the most adorable young lady in my home who just happens to be my road trip partner, I’ve got the scoop on things to do in Virginia Beach. From aerial adventures to ground level sports and, of course, the beach, here’s my guide to Virginia Beach for young adults.

Disclosure: I was given a media pass to check out many of the attractions listed in this post. However, that did not change my point of view or honest opinions.

Road tripping from Pittsburgh to Virginia Beach is an easy freeway breeze, but the ocean breeze we felt when we arrived is incomparable. Here’s our shortlist of things to do for young adults in Virginia Beach to help you plan your next visit.

Virginia Beach for Young Adults – iFLY VA Beach

Suited up and ready to iFLY!

If I only had one place to choose for teens and young adults in Virginia Beach that’s not the beach, it’s iFLY. You see, I’ve been driving past several locations road tripping to other destinations and each time I’ve sighed that I haven’t been able to try it out.

But no longer, my friends. Last month I suited up along with my daughter and felt the crazy rush of floating in a wind tunnel. And although both of us may have had a few jitters beforehand, the gang at iFly made us feel right at home in the air compliments of some training lessons.

If I could explain it, it feels like you’re floating on water without the water. There’s no stomach drops (particularly for first timers) and only easy movements.

Virginia Beach for Young Adults – Jungle Golf

Jungle Golf is an easy mini golf course and fun for all ages – even teens and young adults.

Who doesn’t love a heated round of putt putt golf, am I right?  With 18 easy holes and a jungle theme, the mini golf course is a fun way to spend a couple of hours. It does tend to get pretty busy on gorgeous, sunny days, so keep that in mind when you go.

Virginia Beach for Young Adults – Free Beach Fun on 36th Street

During my time in Virginia Beach, we stayed in an ocean view room at the Sheraton Virginia Beach Oceanfront Hotel on 36th Street. And each time I walked out on the balcony I loved seeing older children and young adults trying out the free exercise equipment that’s literally on the beach.

Hillier Ignite Fitness Park has strength training including parallel bars, rings, climbing ropes, and even a balance beam. Add in the fact that it’s super pet friendly and leads straight to the oceanfront boardwalk area ind it’s a fun, FREE way to grab some exercise and enjoy the beach.

Virginia Beach for Young Adults – Virginia Aquarium & Marine Science Center

There are times when I really love seeing the young lady me daughter has grown into. But then there are times when I can see the giggling 4-year old and the Virginia Aquarium was the place during our time in the city. From the moment we hit the entrance and spied the harbor seals, she walked around smiling with her mouth wide open.

Virginia Beach for Young Adults – Edgar Cayce’s A.R.E. Center

Meditation Room at Edgar Cayce’s ARE Headquarters

A place you probably wouldn’t expect to find in Virginia Beach, Edgar Cayce’s Association for Research and Enlightenment Headquarters is within eye shot of the beach, especially if you’re in the calming meditation room.

Its mission is ” is to create opportunities for profound personal change in body, mind, and spirit through the wisdom found in the Edgar Cayce material.” And during my visit last month, the calm feeling that came over me, along with the dream workshop I took, gave me peace that was palpable.

These days, spiritualism and holistic healing is definitely more in the forefront than when Cayce began his lifelong mission in the late 19th Century. He used his abilities to help people heal and his work was well recorded. On a typical visit, you can explore the quiet garden, visit the meditation room, and even check out the library filled with a wall of his anonymous readings.
