Illuminating Views

free things to do in Niagara Falls USA - Illumination Show

Each night, Niagara Falls is lit up with colored lights, showcasing the beauty of the rushing water. And, depending on the season, the colors change to reflect. We’ve visited during Valentine’s Day and the falls were pink and red; during Christmas they tend to look more festive. The Niagara Falls Illumination Schedule offers different on and off times depending on the month, so please check it to make sure you have the scoop.

Walk the State Park

If you want THE spot in Niagara Falls USA for photos, Niagara Falls State Park is the place to go. The Maid of the Mist has beautiful views of the Falls from inside the gorge, but the views above are just as stunning. Take your camera and, on misty days, there are rainbows to be found if you keep an eye open. Additionally, make sure to look for the Rainbow Bridge: a fitting title, yes?

Discover all the History of Niagara Falls

The Niagara Gorge Discovery Center is a hidden gem. If you want a quick lesson in the geography and beauty of the area, make a pit stop into the center to get your fill.

Hey, Stella!

If you don’t know about the Stella Niagara Preserve, make sure to check it out. With just under 30 acres of beautiful land, it’s the largest underdeveloped tract of land along the Niagara River. You’ll find it at Lower River road in Lewiston.

You Devil!

Another beautiful spot (there are plenty), is Devil’s Hole State Park. It offers pretty views, overlooks that will make your mouth gape open, and places to enjoy a quiet picnic.

A Whirlpool of Beauty

Whirlpool State Park might be quaint, but its beauty packs a punch. It’s here where you can actually enjoy a walk along the river and see rushing water and rapids. Make sure to check out the gorgeous color of the water!
