Lovers of the unknown flock to movies featuring extraterrestrials and travelers take road trips all over the country to research and take photos of alien hot spots.

Where to See UFOs in the U.S.
To give you a quick definition, UFO stands for Unidentified Flying Object. Often associated with what believers claim to be the aircraft aliens use to visit Earth, alien encounters have been recorded including the Stralsund, Germany, Air Battle in 1665. Only a few years before that, Puritans in 1639 near what is now Boston talked about odd lights in the sky and a loss of time.
As for the first recorded alien encounter in the U.S., we need to fast-forward to 1947. In Mount Rainier, Washington, and Roswell, New Mexico, flying saucers made headlines in the newspapers. To this day, speculation and curiosity draw fans to Roswell and Area 51.
Which States Have the Most Alien Sightings?
Sure, Area 51 is the hotspot for alien seekers compliments of its history, but a small state on the East Coast claims the top spot. Vermont takes first place as the most active hotspot for alien activity. The Green Mountain State residents report 95 UFO or alien sightings per 100,000 residents.
Washington ranks second, with 93 UFO or alien sightings recorded per 100,000 residents. In third place is Montana, with locals reporting 90 alien visits per 100,000 residents. Alaska ranks fourth, with 88 sightings of aliens or unidentified flying objects per 100,000 people. Maine and New Hampshire tie for fifth place, with both states recording 86 sightings per 100,000 residents.
The number of UFO reports per state was collected from NUFORC. Using 2023 Census data the population of each state was used to normalize the number of UFO reports per 100k residents. This figure was then ranked from most to least. Online casino comparison service Casino Alpha analyzed data from the National UFO Reporting Center by looking at all reports of sightings in each state. They weighed the number of reports of alien visitations relative to the state’s population to create a fair ranking of most to least visits per 100,000 residents.
The most commonly reported shapes in all these states are lights, circles, or triangles. Hundreds of fireball sightings have also been reported in Vermont, Montana, Washington, and Oregon.
