Tickets for Governor’s Island may be purchased when you arrive and cost $5 for a round-trip fare per person.

For me, I found the red light therapy and saunas on the upper level the best places for relaxation and quiet. Additionally, check the daily schedule for the complimentary foot massage and eye treatment classes, as they -fill up fast on a first-come, first served basis.
With regards to the outdoor heated pools, I found them ideal, even when the outdoor temps were in the single digits. If you don’t mind getting your hair wet, make sure to put your head under the water – there’s lovely classical music below.

As for what to bring, make sure you take a swimsuit with you as well as sunglasses for the outdoor pools. The locker rooms include daily use of a personal locker, a bathrobe, sandals, and two towels. Additionally, there’s plenty of shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and several lotions free of charge. If you need to dry your hair, there are at least 10 Dyson hairdryers to use as well.
