Between buying tickets, packing appropriate clothes, and getting to your destination on time, travel can cause some anxiety. Banish those nervous feelings in time for your luxurious vacation by planning ahead. Learn how to take the stress out of planning a vacation and implement these tips as you go.

Buy Tickets Early

Start shopping for airline tickets between 40 and 60 days before your trip. This extra time will allow you to look for the best deals and start marking your calendar. When you have the tickets in hand ahead of time, you’ll be able to plan time off from work more smoothly.

Research Your Destination

Get a feel for the area where you’ll vacation. You can even pop into Google Earth and virtually maneuver around the community! Look for hotels or VRBOs and make sure to read all reviews. Choose accommodations with a good reputation and look at restaurants and tourist attractions nearby. Do this no matter what kind of accommodation you’re going for, whether it’s a five-star hotel or RV park.

Plan Activities in Advance

When it comes to planning activities, a little prep can take a lot of stress off your trip. Choose a handful of must-do experiences ahead of time – whether it’s a cooking class in Tuscany, a snorkeling tour in Hawaii, or, say, a late-night visit to a Gentlemen’s Club in Las Vegas. By booking key activities in advance and grouping them by area, you’ll save time and avoid scrambling once you arrive. Keep things flexible by leaving space for impromptu adventures – you never know when a hidden gem or spontaneous detour will turn into a highlight. The goal isn’t to plan every hour but to give your days a loose structure that frees you up to actually enjoy them. A smart mix of intention and wiggle room can make all the difference.

Get Medically Cleared

Before you begin your journey, double-check to ensure you’re healthy. Get tested to make sure you’re not bringing anything nasty with you on vacation. If you feel unwell for any reason, wear a mask when you’re around others. When you pack, make sure to bring any prescription medications you need, as well as OTC meds like painkillers. It’s best to over prepare.

Pack Smart

Packing your bags can be one of the most stressful parts of your vacation planning! Open your suitcase and form a strategy; you’ll want to use that space wisely to fit in everything you need. When choosing clothes, pick fabrics that aren’t likely to wrinkle. Roll up your casual clothes and arrange them tightly in the center. Use the sides of your suitcase for shoes, accessories, and small jewelry or toiletry bags.

Prep For Security

If you’re traveling by air, you probably know the security routine at this point. When you head to the airport, wear shoes you can easily take off and put back on. Keep all personal items, like your phone and wallet, in one easy spot so that you can quickly remove them. Because you bought your tickets ahead of time, you’ll have them ready in hand to show airport personnel.

When you prepare for your journey ahead of time, your departure date will practically whiz by. Minimize stress and annoyance by making each process—buying tickets, packing clothes—as simple as possible. These ways to take the stress out of planning a vacation will help you enjoy your trip without worry.
