4 Memorable Places To Camp in The US in Fall

The time when summer settles down and the temperature changes heralds another season of fall. The landscape will change with the coming season and make room for opportunities for different activities such as camping and hiking. People who camp during the fall will benefit from visiting these locations for one last outdoor trip before the cold sets in.

Acadia National Park in Maine supplies visitors with a natural place to camp near the water. The landscape is a mixture of tall trees, rivers that lead out into the water that surrounds the island, and glacier-carved mountains.

The foliage of the trees turns to wonderful shades of orange and brown in the fall, and with the water there are numerous spots to take autumnal photos in multiple places.

Tip: Make sure you are prepared to handle a water crossing while on the trails so you stay safe and get to your destination. Pack waterproof boots or hiking shoes and plenty of warm socks to change out throughout your trip.

The Great Smoky Mountains are a staple of the US and one of the best overlanding routes in North America. The numerous peaks and valleys of this national park offer views of the many trees that paint the landscape and will look wonderful when dotted with patches of fall colors.

The weather will drop to 65 degrees on average, making for mild temperatures that won’t feel too uncomfortable for those who decide to camp in these mountain ranges.

Tip: Pack plenty of layers to accommodate the fluctuating temperatures.

For those who want a feeling of being in the vineyards of Italy during the fall, the Paso Robles Wine Country is a great place to camp in autumn. There are numerous options for campers, such as RV campgrounds, cottages, and chalet rentals.

As fall temperatures set in, there are multiple activities to enjoy, such as hiking, shopping, and even a nice wine tasting. The fields of the vineyard will begin to grow orange for miles and will eventually match the sight of the setting sun. This makes a great view for relaxing and sipping on some freshly made wine.

The Shenandoah Mountains are a great place for campers in autumn who love areas with a good hiking trail. During the fall, as the trees begin to lose leaves and change color, the cool air will feel great for a long hike up the many hills and past the cliffs that make the Shenandoah Mountains.

You will see miles upon miles of forested mountain peaks at higher points that make a great photo or portrait to draw for artists.

Nature is a great place for campers, and the autumn season creates a picturesque view to improve the experience. If you need a place to camp this fall, these four places are a great choice to give you wonderful memories.
