Preparing for Back to School: How Do You Relax?

relaxing with Tradewinds tea

Disclosure: I’m part of the Mom It Forward Influencer Network and was asked to write about #MomentsToSavor and Tradewinds Tea. Yes, I’ve been compensated for this post but all opinions are my own! #AD

Whew, I can’t even believe that it’s back-to-school time. And, while I’m not sure if it’s a blessing or a burden, I know one thing: this time of year is CRAZY for my family! Before I know it, autumn will be happily sneaking up on me (bring on Halloween!), and I’ll be spying autumn decorations on the store shelves.

Until then, I’m all about preparing for my teen‘s second year of high school. There’s clothes to buy, school supplies to purchase, and pencils to sharpen. If you know me, you know that the scent of pencil shavings is one of my faves and should be bottled and turned into candles.

Staying Sane with Back to School Insanity

So, what do I do to keep my home as calm as possible in the couple of weeks before school begins? It’s all about keeping those daily rituals locked into place. Things like taking a nightly bath or putting dinner on the table at the same time every night. Mr. Locke works for our local cyber school so he’s right in the swing of things right now, but he gets stressed out too – so, making sure we all stay on schedule is ideal.

As for me, I’m a creature of habit. I wake up at right around the same time every day, head to the computer to write, and before I know it, it’s lunch time. After lunch, more writing and cleaning. By 3 pm I’m ready for a snack. That’s when I like to take a few minutes to myself and grab a piece of fruit or a cookie, head out onto our front porch, and relax with a drink. I’m used to my caffeine fix in the morning too, so by 3 pm I’m ready for a nice, cold glass of something, and that something usually involves iced tea. Sure, I make my own home-brewed style when I have time, but on hectic days, I like to reach for easy and tasty – and that’s where Tradewinds Tea comes in deliciously handy.

Tradewinds Sweet Tea

Tradewinds Tea Break

Let’s chat about Tradewinds Tea for a moment. Yes, you can buy individual bottles for on-the-go, but I really dig the fact that it has gallon bottles in the Sweet Tea and Unsweet Iced Tea Variety. So, I drink both. Sometimes I want mine sweetened; other times the unsweet style is perfect. The brand uses high-quality ingredients (I can pronounce every one of them. Remember that 80’s commercial?) and filtered water to give the cleanest, most refreshing flavor and taste.

And the time that I steal for myself is so precious on these fractured days before school that I sip, not gulp. Got me?

How do you relax during that crazy, back to school time of year? Here's how I keep my sanity.

Ah, ah , I’m a creature of habit too 🙂 I wake up at right the same time every day, take my bike to go to work, have a coffee at my desk, write on the computer, and before I realize it, it’s already lunch time. .. I’m a tea lover and I would love to taste the unsweet Iced Tea variety. For me most of the commercial brands of iced tea are too sweet !
