Pandora - The World of Avatar

With the announcement of Pandora: World of Avatar in Disney’s Animal Kingdom comes so many questions. The official opening date is May 27, 2017, but there is a way for you to score a sneak preview. Here’s what we know so far and what Pandora Fastpasses will be available.

What We Know about Pandora Fastpass+ Selections

There’s so many guesses as to exactly what the park area will look like, but Disney Imagineering has given us teeny tastes of what’s to come including concept art and recent aerial photos. Here’s what we do know, though.

Fastpass+ Selections: Looks like Animal Kingdom will officially be on a tiered FP+ system with the opening of the new Pandora area. Two attractions will be available, but you’ll have to choose from one or the other:

  • Na’vi River Journey – an underground boat ride-style attraction located within the Valley of Mo’ara
  • Flight of Passage – Bond with a mountain banshee and soar on its back. Also located in the Valley of Mo’ara

Fastpass+ Selections are now available for guests staying on resort property. Staying offsite? You’ll have to wait until 30 days out to book.

How You Can See Pandora – The World of Avatar Before it Officially Opens

If you’re a Disney Annual Passholder, a special preview was announced to let AP guests in to visit Pandora – The World of Avatar for a two-hour block of time. We reserved our spot immediately before time slots run out. Keep an eye on your inbox!

If you’re not an Annual Passholder it will be hit or miss for about a month before the area officially opens. Disney Castmembers will be training for the new area and WDW has been known to randomly open up a new area for random previews. It’s all about right place, right time. We got lucky during a Fantasyland expansion random preview a couple of years ago.
