My first visit to Quaker Steak & Lube® was at the original location in Sharon, PA, and I’ve been hooked on the wings, fries, and all-over fun ambiance the restaurant provides it guests. And, while most first timers like I was head there for the wings and fries, one look at the menu had me trying different items like its ribs and burgers. This fall, Quaker Steak & Lube has listened to its fans and created a limited-time menu based on what they loved, wanted more of, and wished for. The Kid and I had a chance to check out the new menu and found ourselves wanting more of these five new fall favorites. I’m thinking they’ll be perfect for chilly, autumn days and even for a pit to-go pit stop before a football game.
Arizona Ranch® Chicken Dip Appetizer
A fun spin on a favorite appetizer, delivered to our table first was a steaming hot skillet filled with Arizona Ranch® pulled chicken, cream cheese and White Queso, diced celery and scallions, and sprinkled with Bleu Cheese crumbles. The app comes with a plentiful side of Lube Chips (so addicting!) and is so rich and creamy it could easily be eaten as a meal.
The Pick-Up Pickle Steak Sandwich
After tasting the cheesy Arizona Ranch Dip, next on the list was The Pick-Up Pickle Steak Sandwich! Thinly shaved sirloin, sauteed red peppers, mushrooms and onions sauced with Arizona Ranch® packed a toasty bun. Add a topping of melted Cheddar cheese and two crispy fried Pick-Up Pickles (definitely one of my always-order menu items every time we visit. They use spears not slices!) and it’s sandwich perfection on a bun.
The Burnin’ Thai ‘R’ Steak Sandwich
Okay, sometimes puns are not-so-funny- but this one, I’m happy to write, is worth the gas. Here’s what you’ll get: tender shaved sirloin, sautéed red peppers, mushrooms, & onions sauced with Thai ‘R’ Cracker® sauce. If that wasn’t enough, it’s topped with Cheez Whiz®, bacon and fried jalapeño “Hub Caps”. Did you really read that? Cheez Whiz! The Kid had never tried it before and is now a fan. Check out those yummy, fried jalapeño peppers, too.
Pub-Style and Blackened Cod Sandwiches
Since I’m not a fan of fish and seafood I let The Kid take the wheel for this one. Two choices of white fish on a Brioche bun topped with tomato, lettuce, and onion if you like. Okay, full disclosure? I did try one flake of the Cod and did not not like it.
Fried Candy Bar Sundae
Think local and state fairs inspiration for this one. How about a Snickers® bar, wrapped in a flour tortilla and then deep fried, sprinkled with cinnamon sugar, and then topped with hot fudge and caramel? If that wasn’t enough decadence, it’s served with a side of Vanilla Bean ice cream to cut the sweetness. A happy ending, indeed.
