There are Disney movies and then there are Disney movies. With all of the excitement and anticipation surrounding the release of Finding Dory already, I have no doubt that it will be a Disney movie.
When Finding Nemo came out, my daughter was only two years old. She used to stand in front of the television, eyes fixed on the screen and the fun Disney/Pixar characters. I remember her calling the feisty fish “Meemo”, not Nemo. With every visit to the Disney Store at our local mall, her bedroom became the new home to every plush Finding Nemo stuffed animal that we could get our hands on. We caught Disney on Ice: Finding Nemo when the show came to Pittsburgh. We even went as far as decorating the bathroom directly across from her bedroom in an ocean theme- she helped me pick out the style.
You could say she’s a fan.
Now a teenager, the movie is still one of her favorites. I like to remind her of her Meemo days and she still giggles and asks for details about when she was only two.
So now, at 14-years old, I’m waiting for a rebirth of movie passion in our house this summer when Finding Dory is released-and I couldn’t be more pleased. It was easy to fall for the original cast and characters of Finding Nemo and we always get a taste of the film at Epcot with the fun attraction “Under the Sea with Nemo & Friends” and the songs get stuck in our heads for hours afterwards on every visit to the Walt Disney World theme park.
