Hotel Breakers at Cedar Point: Newly Renovated and Ready for Summer!

Last weekend we made the tri-annual road trip to Cedar Point Park to check out the newly-renovated Hotel Breakers. If you’ve been to Cedar Point, you’ve undoubtedly seen the hotel’s pretty exterior and its convenient location right on the shore of Lake Erie. But have you seen the multi-million dollar renovation it’s recently undergone? Maybe it’s time you did. Standing tall for 110 years, the hotel has a fresh, updated interior (it was renovated from the ground up!) and is ready to delight for park guests.

So, what’s new with Hotel Breakers? Here’s the scoop.

A Fresh Look to its Guest Rooms

From the moment you enter through the guest room door, you’ll notice the fun, theme park touches. With headboards featuring popular Cedar Point rides (ours had shots of the Giant Wheel), new bedding and linens, a large storage area, and windows that open so we could feel the breeze from the lake, the room had a fun, whimsical look and feel.
There’s both theme park and lake view rooms and suites available, and if you’re looking for true luxury, there’s a concierge level with its own lounge- perfect for relaxing after a long day in the park.

Expanded Outdoor Pool Deck

Yep, along with the freshened interior, the outdoor patio area has been renovated as well. Hotel Breakers is now offering separate pool areas, outdoor fire pits, and an outdoor hot tub. The kids pool has a zero depth entry and it completely fenced in for safety. As for the fire pits, can you say S’mores?

Updated Grand Entrance and Lobby

If you’ve never been to Downtown Sandusky, you’re missing the fun Merry-Go-Round Museum. In keeping with the love of carousel horses, Hotel Breakers has an updated lobby area featuring pretty, carved carousel horses and all new seating. We founds new seating in all of the Hotel Breakers areas, to be honest, and the color palette is perfect for the hotel pulls colors from both the beach and theme park.

Cedar Point Beach Access

Cedar Point has it’s own beach. Pretty cool, eh? So, even if you’re not a fan of thrill rides, a visit to Hotel Breakers is a great choice. Beach chairs line the sand with individual umbrellas, live bands perform on the weekends right on the beach, and the best part? Cedar Point’s beach area is less than a five-minute walk from the park itself.

Perks of Staying at Hotel Breakers

Ok, so the obvious answer is the proximity to Cedar Point theme park, but there are loads of other reasons why staying onsite at Hotel Breakers is a good choice.

  • Free wifi and parking
  • Fitness Center
  • Conference Center
  • Onsite Starbucks in the Rotunda, Perkins Restaurant, and TOMO Hibachi Grill
  • Early Access to Cedar Point Amusement Park through the hotel’s park entrance
You read that right. During our visit, we were able to enter the park one hour early. In theme park world, that’s a huge amount of time to ride the super-popular thrill rides before the general admission guests head through the main entrance. and, if you’ve heard anything about the park’s latest roller coaster, Rougarou, it’s on the list of early entrance rides.
The complete list of Cedar Point’s park rides included in the hour-early entrance include:
  • Gatekeeper
  • Millennium Force
  • Raptor
  • Iron Dragon
  • Rougarou
  • Planet Snoopy
  • Ocean Motion
  • Midway Carousel
We had such a great time on during our visit to Hotel Breakers! It’s a fab choice for families with kids, babies, and teens,  and even solo guests visiting the area will love the charming atmosphere and whimsical carousel theme.
Happy Travels!
Disclosure: I was hosted by Cedar Point and Hotel Breakers to give you fine folks the scoop on what makes the hotel so fab. All opinions are my own.
