Even if you’re not a racing fan, a visit to the Charlotte/Concord, North Carolina area would not be complete without a trip to the Charlotte Motor Speedway. The Kid and I had a blast during our Over the Wall tour yesterday, and my admiration for the science behind the sport has skyrocketed!
This is my view from our spin around the main track. The Coca Cola 600 took place only four days previous and there was still soda bottle-shaped confetti in the Winner’s Circle (I got a photo of it, too!) The turns have a 24 degree bank and, when we were flying around the track, I was amazed at how the banked turns help to keep the car from losing traction while going at speeds of nearly 200 MPH.
