We are not night owls. You will be hard pressed to find me awake past 10pm. Back track to last night AKA New Year’s Eve. We were in bed by 9:30pm. So, we early birds were up and at ’em this morning and ready for our first cold weather adventure for 2014. In honor of First Day Hike 2014, we ventured to our favorite walking spot, Thompson Park. My husband is an avid four-season disc golfer and played the back nine while we hiked the back nine.
The weather was very cooperative and pleasing, allowing for beautiful photo opportunities. Thompson Park is very photogenic during any weather, but today seemed extra special.
Fallen trees make for beautiful photos. Compliments of a recent storm, there were plenty of them.
Walking under a fallen tree was so much fun!
Melting snow immediately froze and made for a beautiful photo.
This red squirrel certainly looked like he had stocked up very well for the winter!
Mr. Locke surveying the next hole.
A time capsule placed in our park in 2000. Only 84 more years left until it may be opened!
Exercise via hiking is a healthy way to start a new year. Rosy cheeks and smiles are an even better way.
Happy New Year and Happy Travels!
